pup-rally dapper dog style!

a lot of exciting things have been going on the last few weeks, here at the dapper dog spa!  first let me show you our new logo!!!!!  it is so exciting to now have an "official" face to our business, and i could not be more happy or excited!  doesn't that little frenchie just melt your heart!!!  he's sooooo DAPPER!!!!

this past weekend the dapper dog spa spent sometime at dakin animal shelter in leverett.  we were there to support this october being national adopt-a-shelter-dog month.  bear country 95.3 FM was out there doing a live broad cast, giving support to dakin, and they also gave a few shout-outs to the dapper dog spa :)  a quick reminder...any dogs adopted this month will receive $10 off their first grooming at the dapper dog spa! we had an awesome turnout! there were doggy bags with homemade organic treats, a raffle for a free grooming. it was a great time and a wonderful cause to support! while we where there, we were lucky enough to meet this little lady in the need of a good home, little miss muffin. little did we know a potential mascot was in our midst. she was a doll and is available for adoption at the dakin animal shelter in leverett, ma.

life is good at  the dog park, we are meeting new dogs daily and having a blast! stop by in soon for a treat, we would love to see you and hear what going on your end as well!

lending a helping paw

hershel walker jr. jr.
its a rainy day here in northampton, ma...the tapping of rain on my windows, i'm cozied up in a blanket and my right hand man hershel walker jr. jr., my beloved cocker spaniel, is taking a nice nap at my feet. this little guy is my bud, my constant companion. he is sometimes...okay most of the time, the naughtiest thing to hit the streets, and can drive me crazy with the things he can get into, but I love him all the same. one undeniable fact is he loves his mom with the most unconditional love and it fills my heart with every grunt and ewok noise he makes with our daily rub session. this year we will be celebrating his 10th birthday, and i will have been lucky enough to have spent the last 5 with him. 5 years ago started searching for cocker spaniels, i made a decision to adopt rather than go directly to a breeder for a puppy. to say the least, it was one of the best decision i have made, and i really do not know what life would be like without this little guy.

october is national adopt-a-shelter-dog month, and the dapper dog spa is in full swing of its support. the dapper dog spa is fortunate enough to support the efforts made at the dakin animal shelter this year. let me encourage you to consider adoption for your local animal shelter or animal rescue group if you plan on expanding your pack in the future and dakin is a great place to start. whether you are looking for a specific breed or you want the heins 57 variety there is a rescue group that will help match you with a new member of the family. most rescue groups take the time to foster dogs to understand their personality and demeanor to place them in the right forever home. these private organizations selflessly take on the care for thousands of animals each year, and for that each volunteer i feel has earned their wings,

there are many hershys out there in the world who have been sent to rescues, dropped off at pounds, or abandoned and whose only hope is to be sent to privately run rescues to find homes. i have a huge spot in my heart for these rescue organizations and the unselfish work they put in day in and day out to give every pet a chance to find a forever home. most of the rescue groups run solely on donations, and adoption fees for the care and treatment of the animals they place. many of these animals need medical attention whose fees exceed that of adoption costs (heartworm treatments, spay and neuter, special surgeries and rehabilitation to name a few). even if you are not planning on expanding your pack in the near future, please consider donating to a local rescue organization. money is always welcome, but you can donate your time or supplies and i promise you will not be turned away.

check out the dakin animal shelter at and consider supporting them and their efforts.  every saturday dakin collect donations at the northampton and hadley wal-mart locations.

Dogs of the Week!

The Dapper Dog Spa is lucky enough to have two very special guests this week! meet ally, she is a beautiful golden retriever who was my very first client! to say the least she holds a very special place in my heart.

next meet perry! this little cutie came all the way from new mexico! his mom and dad are traveling the east coast and gave us a ring for a fresh new do! this little man is a very fortunate soul indeed...he was found wandering the streets of albuquerque, new mexico when his day of good fortune came and his mommy found him. the poor little guy was not in the best of shape either, he was a emaciated and a matted mess. just look at him now! you would never know what he went through in his previous life, and he is the sweetest little man ever! meeting him warms my heart and gives me hope for all the other lost and homeless pets out there who are searching for a forever home. perry, i am lucky to have met ya little buddy!

fetch this, fetch that

woah...the inevitible first posting. i had to get it out of the way sooner or later, i opted for the latter. away we will go deep into the life and thoughts of teresa...i hope you are sitting down.

many things have happened over the course of a year, good and bad, and some how i'm still standing after it all. great things are coming up in the near future, but i just want to fill you all in w/ a few.

The Dapper Dog Spa is open for business! The Dapper Dog is a full service pet spa located in northampton, ma. i am beyond excited about this endeavor...heaven is filled with puppies and puppy kisses you know :) taking on this project has been a enormous learning experience...trust me when you are able to check things off of your list it is a magical feeling. people may say that being your own boss would be an easy thing to due...it has great perks yes, but you have to believe more in yourself than anyone else every day (it doesn't hurt to have a great support system either ;) ). i am lovin' what i do...i'm lucky

the dapper dog is proud to be using green groom products! they are 100% all natural, biodegradable, and all material are made from 100% post consumer products! how great is that! it is a total grand slam in my book! i was so happy i was able to find a company which offers a products that protect our pets from unwanted chemicals, but also have a focus on renewable resources for all of there packaging

earlier this year, i brought a sewing machine back into my life. i have a vision of perfectly adorable collars, harnesses, leashes, and beading for pooches all over new england....and eventually world domination!!!!!! this is still on my mind, but much testing and design still needs to be completed...but trust me you will be the first to know when it does!

thanks for taking the time to take a look at what is going on down at the dapper dog. we look forward to hearing from you, and making more friends in the future....

hugs and belly rubs,

teresa
